It’s 10:00 Pm as I write this. Quite a drab day, the routine of work followed by returning home to attend to more work. I have little over 60 minutes before I can close this little page of my life, a page written in such ineligible ink that it prolly doesn’t even matter what it was filled up with.

Open Twitter and I see a clip of a 12 year old girl who was supposedly gang raped when she stepped out to a nearby store to shop for a piggy bank. To make it worse, the crowd that surround her upon finding her didn’t bother helping her but chose to take photos/videos of her as she lifts her tiny arms pleading to be helped. The heart wants to react but the mind is too tired at the moment to comprehend and understand the gravity. I want to write to every single person who identifies themselves as a feminist and ask them why is there no outrage?, Is it simply because your woke websites or Insta handles you follow haven’t reacted yet ? I push this pain and fear further down and hope it doesn’t erupt in an unexpected manner.

At these horrid junctures one always asks questions like : Where is god ? Why does he allow humans to degrade themselves like this while thanking their luck for living a blessed life, which also brings us the question : Blessed by whom ?

Religion they say came into the frame a good 7000 years ago and to put this into context our planet is over 4 Billion years old, so where was this imaginary creation before we came in ? Do you believe the animals who have fought for survival on a daily basis and have been through billions of years of evolution are guided by the principles that we have imposed ourselves with ?

In class 7, my social studies teacher told me that the early man who wasn’t equipped to understand the ways of nature put up structures to appease them in order to find answers to questions they could not comprehend : Why did the rains wash away their produce, why did the sun bring in so much famine, why was the cold so brutal that it wiped out their village. A few centuries later and these stones now rest amongst great wealth and even greater ignorance.

For now I find solace by reading this quote from a show that I adore : Bojack Horsemen.

“The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn’t to search for meaning. It’s to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you’ll be dead.”
